Karachi:December 24: The formalities for the possession of 100 acres, given by the provincial government to the SMIU for the Education City, will be completed.
A letter will be written to the prime minister for the possession of a building, which was earlier given to the SMIU by the federal government for the university’s Islamabad campus.
Three syndicate members – MNAs Dr Azra Fazal Pechoho, Dr Nafisa Shah and Syed Ameer Ali Shah Jamot - will meet the prime minister and request to him to order the possession of the building for the Islamabad campus of the Quaid’s alma mater.
It was decided that the SMIU’s finance and planning committee would review the budget for the university.
Members were nominated for various committees. Justice Nadeem Akhtar, former chief justice of Pakistan and sitting chairman of Sindh Public Service Commission Rana Bhagwandas and former cabinet secretary and former Sindh finance secretary and services secretary Abdul Waheed Qazi were nominated as the members of the selection board. Justice Nadeem Akhtar will represent the SMIU Syndicate, while the other two will be its members as “persons of eminence”.
Justice (Retd) Syed Deedar Hussain Shah was nominated as a member of the finance and planning committee, Muqeem Alam as member of the discipline committee and Dr Sikandar Mandhro as a member of affiliation committee.
The participants of the meeting endorsed the steps taken by the vice chancellor after the elevation of the SMI to the university level.
The syndicate also passed a resolution moved by Slaman Farooqui, the secretary general to the president of Pakistan, for appreciating the SMIU vice chancellor’s efforts.The news.
