Academicians must work together to improve higher education curriculum

Karachi:June 8:Assures NED vice chancellor, KMDC principal of support from federal government

Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair has called upon intellectuals and academicians to join hands to revise the higher education curriculum according to contemporary needs.

Talking to NED University Vice Chancellor Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi on Wednesday, he said the higher education played a central role in formation of a social welfare state. "This holds equally true for national prosperity and economic development of any state or country," he said.

Talking to the governor, Dr Sarosh Lodi apprised him of the research-based activities being carried out in the university.

He also discussed the series of projects for postgraduate students initiated in different departments of the engineering university.

Acknowledging the role of NED graduates in the national development, the governor said the country would further need the services of Pakistani engineers in view of projects being initiated due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

He said the country needed more quality engineers who were capable of dealing with the new challenges of their respective fields of speciality.

Mentioning that the federal government had accorded top priority to the promotion of the higher education, the governor assured Dr Lodi of assisting in carrying out the master plan developed for the expansion of the NED University of Engineering and Technology.

Appreciating the interest shown by the governor for the matters related to the university, the vice chancellor said the prime minister’s laptop scheme for the university students could help in promotion of research-based education.The news.
