Karachi University restrained

Karachi:July 6:The Sindh High Court (SHC) has restrained the University of Karachi’s (KU) syndicate from finalising the minutes of its April 20 meeting regarding cancellation of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (Fuuast) acting vice-chancellor’s doctorate degree.
The order came on an appeal by Fuuast’s Prof Suleman D Mohammad, who requested the bench to restrain the KU’s syndicate from finalising its decision to cancel his PhD degree on charges of plagiarism.

The appellant’s counsels, Salim Salam Ansari and Zeeshan Abdullah, said the KU’s syndicate was about to approve the minutes of the meeting, and requested the SHC to restrain the syndicate from it. The request of the appellant was opposed by the KU and the Higher Education Commission’s counsel.

However, the high court’s division bench headed by Justice Munib Akhtar postponed the matter until August 9 and told the KU syndicate not to finalise the minutes of the April 20 meeting during its assembly scheduled to be held on July 5.The news.
