Conference on ‘Emerging Trends in Engineering, Sciences

KARACHI:26 august: An International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering, Sciences and Technology 2017 was held at the main campus of Iqra University on Friday.

The conference was jointly organized by Faculty of Engineering, Sciences and Technology, Iqra University and Faculty of Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. It was technically collaborated by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia and Department of Computing and Information Systems, Sunway University, Malaysia.

The conference was attended by various scholars from USA, UK, Malaysia, Romania and many other industrially developed and developing Asian countries.

Moreover, Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi, Prof Dr Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology and other prominent Professors of the country attended the conference.

"Iqra University has set the goals of improving the quality of education, strengthened research culture and causing social mobility", said Hunaid Lakhani, Chairman of the IU while addressing at the inaugural ceremony of the conference.

He said that IU is striving to build its academic and research capabilities at par with international standards and simultaneously aligned with HEC vision 2005.

He recalled that IU has organized three international conferences within the short period of three two months.

The varsity is moving from national recognition to international collaboration which will build up the capacity of IU's faculty and to develop content as per international standards. "Nothing can be achieved working in isolation, we need to pole our intellectual and infrastructural resources for the achievement of the goals by HEC", he stressed.Published in Daily Times, August 26th 2017.
