KARACHI:April 21:The Sindh High Court (SHC) directed on Wednesday the provincial governor to appoint a vice-chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) within three days, a sign that the country’s major medical university might be inching close to the end of its prolonged administrative crisis soon.
The order was passed on a lawsuit challenging the appointment of Professor Dr Khawar Saeed Jamali as the ‘acting’ vice-chancellor of the varsity and seeking the appointment of the vice-chancellor on a regular basis.
Six weeks on, no progress in vice-chancellors’ case
Earlier, the provincial government informed the court that the provincial chief minister had asked the governor to initiate the process of the vice-chancellor’s appointment afresh.
The secretary for universities and boards produced a letter in court written by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair. The news.
