Matriculation: 100% attendance on first day of annual exams

Karachi :April 06:Hundred per cent attendance was observed during the first paper of the Board Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) annual examinations 2016, said BSEK chairperson Anwar Ahmed Zai.

The first paper of computer science (theory) was scheduled for class nine students, retaking the exam.

On Monday, Zai and his vigilance team paid surprise visits to six examination centres in districts Central and Malir.

These included Government Boy’s Secondary School, Nazimabad, Muslim Government Boy’s Secondary School, Liaquat Market, and Delhi Government Girl’s Secondary School in Karimabad.

The purpose of the surprise visits was to make sure that the paper start on time and ensure the electricity and water situation at the centres, said Zia. “The question papers, attendance sheets and other material reached the centres on time. We did not receive any complaints today.”

However, Government Boys’ Secondary School and Muslim Government Boy’s Secondary School had no electricity when the students were taking their examination.

Zia also called a meeting with officials of different schools to resolve the electricity issue for the rest of the papers, which will continue till April 21.Published in The Express Tribune, March 29th, 2016.
