Probe Verifies Corruption in Mirpurkhas BISE

Mirpurkhas:17 May: The committee formed on the orders of the Sindh chief minister to investigate corruption, misappropriation and other malpractices in the Mirpurkhas Board of Intermediate Eduction submitted its report to the commissioner on Friday.
The committee verified claims of embezzlement of a huge amount of the board’s funds through fake vouchers, gross irregularities in recruitment, promotion, financial matters, budget and costly purchases in the absence of a mechanism for internal audit, said a sources.
The commissioner immediately sent the report to the chief minister, which further said that costly vehicles were illegally auctioned at cheap rates, favourites were promoted in violation of rules, gross irregularities were committed in the conduct of examinations and high marks were given to any student who paid huge bribes to the officers concerned, said the sources.
The committee recommended to the chief minister that the committee’s findings be referred to the National Accountability Bureau and the officers involved in corruption be placed under suspension.
It recommended that the embezzled funds must be recovered from corrupt officers.
The committee comprised Deputy Commissioner Syed Mehdi Ali Shah (convener), Mohammad Usman Mehsud (secretary), regional director of colleges Dr Saeeduddin Ahmed, district accounts officer Hassan Jan Changezi, director school education Jalil Lashari and the additional deputy commissioner-I.

BISE chairman
Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has given additional charge of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Mirpurkhas, to Fasihuddin Khan, chairman of the Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, according to reliable sources.
The sources told Dawn on Friday that former chairman Shafique Ahmed Khan had handed over the charge to his favourite, Barkat Qureshi.
