Report on school van accident Submitted to CM

Nawabshah:14 February: The investigation report of the school van accident, compiled by Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed, was submitted to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Thursday. The Daulatpur school van accident had claimed the lives of 20 students – both girls and boys — two teachers and the van driver. Eleven students had received multiple injuries.
Divisional Commissioner Jamal Mustafa Syed was appointed to probe the accident when the chief minister had visited Daulatpur on January 17 to distribute cheques of compensation among the families of the accident victims.
Sources said the report, comprising 98 pages, fixed responsibility of the accident on driver of the dumper and his helper, who have not been arrested as yet.The report also pinpointed negligence of the Road Transport Authority (RTA), the traffic police, the Motorway Police and administration of the Bright Future Public School in the accident.
The report said 34 students, teachers and driver were travelling in the van against its capacity of 22 passengers and no authority had taken any notice. The report said the school administration failed to comply with its responsibility and overloaded the van with students.
MNA Dr Azra Fazal Pechohu also distributed cheques of Rs100,000 to each family of the injured students.On the other hand, the construction of eight speed-breakers near the school also resulted in a series of accidents; the first one at the site involved a car and two motorcycles. The speeding car had jumped over the breaker and killed the husband and wife on the spot while another similar accident left two motorcyclists injured.The news.
