Clerks Seek Action Against Corrupt Officials of Mirpurkhas BISE

Mirpurkhas:16 April: All Pakistan Clerk Association Mirpurkhas education board unit president Malik Abdul Sattar and general secretary Shahid Lateef have demanded that the chief minister and other authorities should take immediate notice of corruption of the administration of Board of Intermediate and Secretary Education (BISE) Mirpurkhas and order special audit of the financial affairs of the board.
Addressing a joint press conference here on Tuesday at the local press club, they gave detail of corruption and gross irregularities and alleged that there was no provision of internal audit of the board record. Without adopting approved tender process, millions of rupees were being drawn from the board bank accounts for purchasing, they added.
They alleged that board chairman Shafique Ahmed Khan issued advance cheques in the names of his favourite employees for running expenses of his office.
They also alleged that due to corruption, annual budged of the board had been spent within eight months and without approval of the controlling authority.
New employees were being recruited without the procedure of test and interview etc., and favorites were being appointed after taking bribe, they added.
They lamented that during the SSC- Part I and II annual examination 2014, 8.5 to 9 million fees submitted by students with the UBL Mirpurkhas branch had not been deposited in the accounts of the board and the amount had been pocketed by the chairman.
Meanwhile, sources said that on Tuesday morning, all the staff of the board had been asked to gather at a place where the board chairman address them against the union leaders. They were also forced to chant slogans in favour of the chairman.
Then employees were threatened with an action if they did not go to the local press club for holding a demonstration in favor of the chairman.
Panic spread among the employees after this act of the officers of the board.Dawn.
